I bought some cheap frames from the Salvation Army store. And it was a sale day, so I got them super cheap. They were plain wood, and I have photos of them somewhere...I think. I painted some white Apple Barrel paint on them.
I bought some glaze and got a paint sample from Lowe's and tried my hand at glazing them. The one above was my first try and it turned out okay - I'm not in love with it. The one below was my second try and I liked it better.
This one was a cheap metal frame - old gold metal. I painted it and then glazed it and it has turned out to be my favorite so far.
I've painted the glass with magnetic paint that really doesn't work. And then I covered it with two coats of chalkboard paint that worked really well. I think I may go back and try to find some kind of sheet metal that I can cut to fit and use with magnets. Then I can just put some chalkboard paint on that and have a magnet/chalk board.
I also have a framed train print that I want to fix. Not sure how I want the frame to look yet - not distressed white like above. Something more masculine for the boys.
