John Campbell loves it. Loves it! He has no problem getting aggressive and physical on the court. And he has a complete look of joy on his face while he's playing. I'm so proud for him!
Friday was the only day kids went to school, due to snow. When I picked him up, John Campbell said, "Mom, guess what! We are going to have cheerleaders at the game tomorrow." Then, he named off some girls' names, and continued. "They are going to yell at us, and then cheer for us, and shake pom-poms at us!" He was so proud. And his little girlfriend was going to be there.
Today, they cheered for them, shook pom-poms at them and they all had the best fun! John Campbell does such a great job on the court. He scored a goal and had several assists and rebounds. He is the little rebound king and goes after that ball like rocket. Last week, he got a star for being the best defensive player. This week, he got a star for being the team's best offensive player.
He gave me several thumbs up while he was on the court. I had so much fun watching him. Much more than soccer. And Upward basketball is so organized and everything is run so well. They do a devotional at half time - with the entire crowd. They pray before the game. It is all geared toward Christ. We are having a ball. And best of all, John Campbell is loving it so much.
I always enjoyed pep band in high school and college - more than marching. It is fun to sit in the stands, with your Uncle Sam A'Strut book and play for your team. Basketball is more fun to watch - you are closer and can see the action, and you can tell what's going on.
Today, they had some passes that were beautiful. And they are only in kindergarten. He gains confidence and a sense of achievement and worth with every game and practice. It has been such a blessing. No photos yet, but we have videos of the two games so far. Now, to figure out how to get those online.
