Pond

We worked on our pond this afternoon. It had a leak and we didn't do anything to it last year. We reworked the entire pond part and the part where the waterfall runs into the pond. We put down new plastic as well and reworked all the rocks. So far, so good! No leaks. And the plantings around the waterfall look a lot better. I need to get a few more things to tuck in here and there, and we'll put some water plants in to soften the pond a little bit. I hope we wake up tomorrow with a still full pond and no leaks.

The boys were little terrors the entire time we worked. They refused to get along or to allow us to work in peace. Lifting heavy rocks can make for a short temper; it gets even shorter with two screaming boys around. They finally settled down and we finished just as a storm was blowing through with lots of wind and a few cooling drops of rain. Once we turned the waterfall on, it calmed us and lowered our blood pressure. I'm so glad that area is shaping up. We have a little more work to do, but it is coming along.

And here are the fish. JC's is mostly orange (top right), JW's is orange with some white, and mine is orange and white with black spots. And Abbie got one that is mostly black - that we can't see because he blends in with the liner. Maybe when he grows a bit it will be easier to find him. We need to name them, but the kids don't seem too interested in it right now.
