The sermon at church today was a good one. It is always a good one. I need to mention them more. Pastor Kenny and Pastor Phil do a great job. Today, Pastor Kenny asked how many people in the church were naturalized citizens as opposed to American-born. We did have one person, believe it or not. His point being, that the majority of us didn't choose to be Americans, we were born here by the grace of God, put here by Him. So, instead of being proud of being an American, we should be thankful. And I feel very fortunate to be born in such a country. I've thought about it numerous times - how I could have been born on a different continent, a place where women are treated like livestock. If life is a crap shoot, then being born in the US is an incredible stroke of luck. Good fortune - a blessing straight from God. And to take it further, being born to good parents who took care of me and loved me. Another wonderful blessing that I received without doing anything. Thank You, God, for putting me here, of all the places You could have put me.
We've had a good weekend and Abbie is taking Monday off (gasp!) so we have one more day to enjoy. Cooking out, swimming, visits from Betty. The kids have had a blast. Jackson Wynn singed his eyebrow a little with a sparkler, but was otherwise unharmed. Both boys were really scared of the sparklers after that. That was last night. Tonight, Abbie took them back out and they did fine. Had fun.
I didn't get any photos because I was too busy visiting and enjoying. Sometimes I would like Abbie to take the initiative of capturing memories. It would be nice to change it up a little.
I also found a wonderful project I want to do with the boys - thank you to That Artist Woman for putting the instructions here. And thank you to Scene of the Grime for pointing me in the right direction! I can't wait to try the simple glue/paint/fabric batik project with the boys. They will have a great time and it will be easy and very fun.
PS I just noticed that you did make the move to blogger - the blog looks great, and now I'll be able to add you to my feed reader too :).
ReplyDeleteSounds like the ideal fourth of July (singeing aside). I'm with you on the husband not taking pictures thing - if we didn't visit my parents occasionally I'd NEVER be in a photo!
