We have had a lazy Monday today. Abbie took the day off and we've hung out around the house. We spent a lot of time outside. Abbie decided to start the next phase of our back yard work, so he removed a bunch of gravel from around the pool. For now we will leave it as it is and trim it down if grass grows there. It will be a lot easier to do without gravel mixed in with all the weeds. Eventually, we'll put down some kind of hard surface and widen the lip around the pool for more chairs and tables. Hot work! The boys were very helpful with it all. I went out to deliver drinks and to help a little, but my back just isn't what it used to be. Shoveling gravel is just not in the cards for me. The boys and I decide to swim while Abbie finished up what he wanted to do. Then we all swam and cooled off. Even though this Fourth weekend has been in the middle of a cool snap, the pool has still been fun. Now we need to continue working so it can look fun. We've lost another fish in the pond. So far, only mine and John Campbell's has survived. I named mine Streak, because he has a black steak across his back. Jackson Wynn's and Abbie's fish passed from this world before their names could really stick. John Campbell's fish has a changing name - he hasn't settled on what to call it yet.
On to the craft. I love checking out design and crafting blogs - so many great ideas! And it is just like a good recipe, it is passed on and on until everyone has shared it with everyone. Here's another great one to try from Remodelaholic, which is from a guest contributor. It is a 3-D star wreath that has endless decorating possibilities.
Another craft to try at 33 Shades of Green is making these adorable hypertufa pots for my plants.
