Jackson Wynn had his first official day of preschool today. He did very well. When I picked him up, he cried. I think he was just confused about it all. He was fine, just a little emotional. He's running around the house now, eating popcorn and watching Batman with his big brother.
And Big Brother is getting ready for REAL school. I bought his school supplies today, and got a couple of special things for him to keep at home, since most of his supplies will be used communally. I can't believe my first baby is going to be in kindergarten. I can't believe my baby baby is in preschool. What is mama going to do with all this spare time? I'll be a lady of leisure!
Actually, I shopped without someone hanging on to my hair or clothes, and I came home and made the beds in my quiet house. I had lunch with Betty and saw the work she's having done on her house (it looks great) and came home and did a smidge of gardening. I was able to pick up toys and take them to the toy room without anyone getting more toys out and strewing them even quicker. I was able to clean and concentrate.
Still, I missed my boys. I'm happy with this milestone, but it is always bittersweet. Each big step they take is one step further from mama's protection. We said a little prayer outside the preschool today before they went in and John Campbell requested something special for Jackson Wynn. So sweet. I hope I never forget these wonderful, ordinary days.
Way to go big guy! And good luck to the big brother too. They grow up too darn fast, don't they...
