Table It

My kitchen is very angular - all rectangles and squares. Both our tables are also rectangular. I was feeling the need for something with soft curves. Add to that all the lovely table makeovers I'm seeing in blogland. I found just the thing on Craig's List. Looked at it and looked at it. And we finally called and picked it up. Got a big oak table with 6 oak chairs. We won't be keeping the chairs, unless they start to grow on me. The table was heavy and solid. The top has a veneer on it. The idea here is to sand it down and restain it to the blackest color I can get it. I don't want to paint it and lose the wood grain. Then again, with the veneer on there, we may end up doing that. We've started sanding.

I couldn't believe the huge thing fit in the back of the van.  Abbie went back the next day and picked up the chairs.  Gotta love a minivan, even though they aren't sexy.  They get the job done.

It has two leaves and will comfortably seat six and maybe seat eight depending on how bulky the chairs are.  I wanted something on a pedestal, but wasn't looking for the claw foot style.  We'll make it work though.

The boys have enjoyed playing with it on the driveway.  I would love to have this ready by Christmas.  We'll see.  Abbie is taking his time sanding and making sure he does it right.

And of course, we had a couple of Spidermen around the house to help us with our projects.
