We woke up to our own Christmas miracle - a White Christmas in Alabama. It was a wonderful Christmas. God has blessed us greatly in 2010 and kept us safe. We are looking forward to a nice New Year.
For Christmas, the boys got lots of toys and gadgets. More then they'll ever pay with. Santa brought Jackson Wynn a DSi and he brought John Campbell a trampoline - something the whole family can enjoy. They got other various toys. Legos, Trio blocks, games, card games, puzzles and action figures. They each had a Lego Luke Skywalker watch in their stockings, along with candy, fruit and other goodies.
We had a good day together and remembered what we are really celebrating. Love, divine love and our own mortal love. We exchanged gifts and thought about and talked about the greatest gift of all - Jesus. During a performance of the Living Christmas Tree at Guntersville FUMC, someone said that the real reason for the season is all of us. After all, why did God send Jesus? For us; that's why. Pretty deep stuff to think about.
The tree on Christmas morning - notice the snow outside!
Santa came!
I dashed outside to get some photos of the snow. I hope the neighbors didn't see the crazy woman outside in pajamas.
Snow on the dogwood.
We opened gifts.
There are certain names that we have become very familiar with since having two little boys. Lego, Trio, Imaginext, Thomas and Friends, Indiana Jones, Batman, and all other super heroes, just to name a few.
The story behind Woody...Jackson Wynn got a Woody and Buzz doll for his birthday back in August. John Campbell was very good about it, but really wanted dolls of his own. They shared the dolls some and fought over the dolls a lot. John Campbell talked about them and brought them up every so often, saying he wanted some of his own for Christmas. Abbie wanted them to share and not duplicate. I wanted to get the dolls before Christmas. Then, Woody bit the dust. He quit talking. I think Jackson Tried to rip his head off or something. So, I felt it was divine providence when I found he dolls on sale. I got two Woody dolls and a Buzz doll. And when John Campbell opened them on Christmas morning, he was so very happy. He had waited. He had been good about it. And he got his very own Buzz and Woody. And boys don't like dolls much or for very long, so I wanted to do this.
Jackson Wynn was happy with everything he got and the boys have played with all of it.
Jackson Wynn loves puzzles and could do that all day, so we got him a neat Thomas puzzle in a rolling Thomas tin. He also got more trains in his stocking.
A brotherly hug in the middle of all the papers.
The Pillow Pets were a big hit as well. Both boys had a Pillow Pet picked out for a long time. And John Campbell accidentally saw me peeking in a box when they arrived, so he knew they were under the tree. He had a hard time waiting until Christmas to open them. They have slept with them every night since.
Playing with the two Woodys.
They had candy, toys and little games in their stockings.
After gifts, we ate Monkey Bread for breakfast and had some more candy, then headed outside.
I hope the boys will always remember the year we had a real White Christmas.
*Remember to get Daddy a Bama hoodie so he can quit wearing that hideous orange*
We threw a few snowballs and ran around a bit, but then the real work began. We rolled real snowballs into huge balls to make snowmen. Two big ones! We named one Frosty and the other one Crystal. They were amazed that snow rolls up so quickly to make big balls.
I sent a photo to the paper with a little write up of having a White Christmas. I hope it gets printed.
Daddy and the boys did a great job on Crystal.
I helped the boys put together Frosty. It was a lot of fun. We are so blessed with wonderful Christmas memories from 2010.
